Panic attacks may be relatively brief, but the intense discomfort experienced can be scary. Some may mistake a panic attack for a heart attack, but the symptoms are psychological, not physical
Some symptoms include:
- Racing thoughts
- Sweating
- Racing Heart
- Tightness in the chest
- Crying
- Difficulty breathing
- Thoughts of doom
Sometimes a panic attack may be an isolated incident, but if a person has had at least two panic attacks and lives in fear of another, or behaviors have changed to avoid a panic attack, it may be panic disorder. Panic Disorder is considered an anxiety disorder and is commonly treated with therapy, lifestyle changes, and sometimes with medication.
